Introducing Flynn Crouch

As the title of this blog suggests, no I'm not going to tell you how Baby Crouch was made, I'm sure you all know how that works... but I thought it might be a nice idea to document this amazing and special time in our lives.

Our little guy Flynn entered the world 5 months ago on the 8th January, 2015 at 2.52am (the day before he was due - so punctual, well done mate!).  What an absolute life changing moment that was!  He was a nice 3.525kgs and 52.5cms long.  Our 5 days in the hospital getting to know our little dude was just so special and while we were totally overwhelmed by EVERYTHING, we were enjoying these early days as a threesome.

Just 2 hours old (first weigh in)
Just over 10 hours old

Then we went home....
The day we left the hospital, Flynn is 4 days old

Wow, talk about expectations vs reality.  To all the mums-to-be out there, please know that it's completely normal to have a melt down for at least a week once you get home.  At least that's what happened to me.  Thank goodness for Husband - and hats off to single mums, you are amazing!  The reality of having this tiny little thing to care for, provide for, and get to know, suddenly hits.  Lack of sleep doesn't really help, nor do the feeding issues we had to endure.  Those first 4-6 weeks were definitely the most challenging, but early on we knew we'd scored ourselves the best little baby ever (total biased, but hey I'm his mum so it comes with the territory).

Little Flynn was sleeping through the night consistently by 8 weeks, and when I say sleeping through the night, I mean from 9pm til 8am without waking.  And I'm happy to say that he's still doing that now at 5 months, although going to bed a little earlier (7.30pm).  This is also why we were able to move him from his bassinet (in our room) to his cot (in his own room) when he was just 3 months old.  A sleeping machine!!

Now I knew babies grew quickly, but wowsers, seriously how quick does that time go!  He's already 5 months old, and it still feels like yesterday we were meeting him for the first time (well, sort of).  He is the coolest and happiest little guy.  I feel very lucky to be his mum, and this whole motherhood thing is definitely my favourite job ever.  Our love for him grows by the second, real love, unconditional love.  Every smile, cuddle, sleepy sigh, high-pitched squeal, and cheeky giggle, not only melts our hearts but it also makes us want to pat ourselves on the back for creating this beautiful little thing, how clever we are ;-)

Flynn at 10 weeks
